ENDS WITH A FUTURE
KATHRINE BARBRO BENDIXEN

PRESENTED BY TABLEAU
MAY 2019
WHAT DEFINES THE WORK OF KATHRINE IS EXPERIMENTING WITH MATERIALS AND SHAPING EVERYTHING WITH HER HANDS. SHE FAVOURS WORKING WITH A CERTAIN MATERIALITY AND TO PUT THIS IN A NEW OR UNCONVENTIONAL CONTEXT AND CLASSIFIES HER OWN WORK AS SCULPTURES IN THE FIELD BETWEEN ART AND DESIGN.
[READ MORE] BY PUSHING THE LIMITS OF THE MATERIAL, KATHRINE HAS CREATED A SERIES OF VERY UNUSUAL, YET BEAUTIFUL, LIGHT SCULPTURES MADE OF COW INTESTINES FOR THIS EXHIBITION IN TABLEAU. THE LIGHT SCULPTURES CAN BE PLACED ON THE FLOOR, ON THE WALL OR HANGING FROM THE CEILING AND THEY VARY IN SIZE, ALL WITH A UNIQUE, ORGANIC SHAPE. THE PART OF THE INTESTINE THAT KATHRINE USES IS A WASTE PRODUCT NOT SOLD AS FOODS. WHEN DRIED, IT IS FIRM AND DURABLE WHICH MAKES IT NOT ONLY A VERSATILE AND STRONG MATERIAL, BUT ALSO AN ORGANIC AND RESPONSIBLE ONE.
