In this collection the artist talks about himself and the everyday surroundings of this time. Willem expresses his own thoughts on mostly “ordinary stuff”, “simple occasions”. As many of us do, he has a hard time talking positively about himself. In the words of the artist himself: “I realized I’m more of a pessimist when I start to express myself. I can blame myself extremely well, however, in complimenting myself I’m not that great. I started writing down my thoughts and feelings I used to be ashamed of. Writing my insecurities in my work and showing them to the public is weirdly revealing. It helped me start conversations about these topics and accept them, also because other people can relate to them. Looking back at this collection, it shows an evolution of myself. Speaking about my feelings made me take them less seriously. Which resolves in me taking more of a piss with myself and these simple ordinary occasions we surround ourselves too easily with.”
